Bushardt sets new school weight throw record

CVA senior Zack Bushardt set a new school record for the weight throw on Dec. 27 at the CNY Holiday Classis held at Utica University. His throw of 48' 5.50" topped Michael Sportello's (CVA Class of '20) school record of 45' 6.50" by almost three feet. Just six days later, Zack eclipsed his own mark with a throw of 49' 11.50" at the John DiMao Invitational held at Colgate University. The weight throw is a 25-lb. ball for boys (20-lb. for girls) attached to a handle by a short chain. Athletes spin to build momentum for maximum distance.
